Altered Book, First 50 Years of Life, employs the architecture of the flag book to encapsulate a visual timeline not only of the Magazine's youth, but also the surrounding social, political, and cultural context.
Such was a time of turmoil, taking place from 1936 to 1986; the individual and collective image represents both a soberingly true yet idealized struggle and resilience in war.
